Asher was grazing carefully. He snorted softly as a fly landed on his nose, but no much else. Lifting his head, he looked around. There weren't many horses in the herd yet, but there were enough. Seeing Galaxy, he softly whinnied and trotted over to her, nickering. Perhaps he could start up a conversation. Or at least a small one if nothing else.

Galaxy looked up form her grazing to see a stallion trotting towards her. She gave a quite nicker in reply after turning to face him. She wasn't going to be unfriendly to one of her herd mates but she didn't trust this stallion, not yet he would have to earn her trust. She flicked her tail at a fly waiting for him to speak.

Asher stopped a few feet away from the mare. She was rather pretty. Softly, he nickered once more and then said,"Hello." He tilted his head, hoping he hadn't spooked her or made her panick. He waited for her reply patiently. Hopefully, she hadn't taken unkindly to his sudden appearance.

Galaxy let the stallions 'Hello' linger in the air for a few moments before finally replying with a "Hello" in a quite tone not unfriendly but not especially friendly either. She hadn't been in this herd long, she had been in the West Moon herd with her adoptive mother before leaving to join this herd so she didn't know all of the horses in her new herd yet. She recognized them yes but not by name, this stallion was one of the ones she didn't know yet.

Asher blew out of his nose. "What's your name? I'm Asher." He dipped his head modestly and lifted it back up again to be able to see her when she answered. This wasn't going exactly how he had thought it would, but it was going okay. He shifted his weight from one leg to the other and held it there for a bit.

"I'm Galaxy" Galaxy said giving a slight smile for the sake of being friendly. She wasn't one to do much talking to she just gave a nod of her head and waited for him to continue talking. If he asked any questions she'd answer them but probably not with all my many words, the only horse she ever talked to openly was Moon because she knew and trusted the mare.

Asher nodded. "Galaxy... That's a unique name, but it's still beautiful." He smiled slightly and looked around. Then, looking back at the mare, he said,"Yes. So, I'm guessing you are one of the new mares here in the herd. No worries. You'll know everyone soon enough." He smiled encouragingly with a small sigh and waited to see if she would say or do anything.

Galaxy smiled and gave a nod accepting the compliment. Moon had given her the name. It was because of all the spots on her coat 'Like a Galaxy of Stars' Moon had said meaning her coat and then she had given her the name. She didn't tell this to the stallion of course being one of such few words. She gave another nod before saying "Yes I'm new". She usually never asked questions but after a moment she asked "I take it you've been here for a while?"

Asher thought about how to respond. He opened his mouth and closed it a few times before finally saying,"Kind of." He looked at her with a strange expression. "I wasn't born here, but I came here, ah, about a year or two ago? I don't know, but I've been here for maybe about that long." He thought. "Would you count that as 'a while', or as 'new-ish'?"

Galaxy watched him carefully noting how he was unsure of what to say at first. "A while I'd say" she said after a moments thought, a year or two was far longer than she had been here for. She swung her head around to nip at a fly on her shoulder before turning to look back at Asher to see if he had anything else to say.

Asher shrugged and nodded. "Ok. So, a while." He snorted inwardly to himself. Some horse I am. If I've been here a while and I still forget which way to the nearby stream. He looked at Galaxy for a moment, wondering what else to say. Finding nothing, an awkward silence just kind of lapsed in and took over.

Galaxy gave a nod of her head in reply. The silence wasn't of awkward for her as for him because she was used to silences, they happened a lot when someone was talking to her. She dropped her head to pick up a mouthful of grass. She kept her ears turned towards him listening if he was leave or going to say something else to her.

Asher tilted his head and wondered if she was going to say something. She might, but he wasn't sure. She seemed almost to be waiting for him to say something. So, he improvised, which he isn't very good at. Clearing his throat awkwardly, he said,"Um, nice day, eh?" He looked at the sky and then back at Galaxy a little sheepishly.

Galaxy lifted her head and finishing chewing on the grass before replying. "Yeah it is" she said nodding her head and looking around. For the simply purpose of saying something else and stopping the stallion trying to struggle to find something else to say she said "Its nice and warm today, isn't it?". There was obviously nothing much to reply to that but at least she'd said something.

Asher nodded. "Yes. I like it this way." He sighed a happy sigh. This was kind of turning into an odd conversation, but at least it was a semi-conversation. He smiled slightly and looked at Galaxy. "So, what did you do between your time here and your time in, ah, your other herd?"
