Cheveyo had recently claimed a relatively large area of land for himself and for his future herd. It had been his own spotted coat that gave him the idea to name his herd the Surreal Spots herd. The land he had claimed was good. A large flat area of grassy meadows with a river to the right and a few mountains sheltering it to the left. At the edge of the land lay a small forested area with a few tall trees standing densely together.
It was a fine warm day, the sun was shining and there was a gentle breeze blowing. Cheveyo stood on a small hill looking over his lands. Beautiful as the land was there was something amiss. That of course was the herd members, he had none yet. He gave a lonely whinny that rang out loud and clear over the land below him hoping to attract some horses to his lands.
He stood looking downwards waiting hopefully for a reply, for the movement of another horse. The breeze lifted his mane from his neck as he stood atop the hill waiting.....

Fiona heard a whinny. Rearing up, she neighed back and took off towards the sound at a gallop. Reaching a place where she started to have a feeling of a stallion, she looked up. There on a hill stood a stallion. She whinnied again and trotted towards the stallion.

A whinny in reply, that was good. Cheveyo gave another whinny and then looked downwards. He could see a mare galloping towards the hill and then trotting up towards him. He smiled seeing her. She was an Appaloosa which was great, she fitted in perfectly with his herds name. He started walking forwards towards her a few steps down the hill. He came to a stop around half way down on a relatively even slope when he had reached the mare. "Hello" he nickered softly studying her.

Fiona whinnied in response and tilted her head. Blowing a bit of air out of her nose, she softly replied,"Hello." This was looking good. Perhaps she had found a heard already. Things might work out, but she didn't want to jinx it. It was too early to tell, but she had a good feeling about this. After a few moments, she said,"What is your name, stallion?"

Cheveyo smiled at the mare replying "My name is Cheveyo" he paused for a moment before adding "and what's your name pretty mare?" with a cheeky grin on his face. He tilted his head slightly towards her waiting for a reply.

Fiona kept herself from blushing, which was lucky. At least she didn't need to embarrass herself. She let a small smile escape and said,"Call me Fiona. It is a pleasure to meet you, Chevyo." She breathed in his scent and it was rather nice, actually.

"Its a pleasure to meet you too Fiona" Cheveyo said with a smile. He didn't want to rush things and ask too soon but he was excited about finally having a herd so after a moment he was no longer able to wait so he asked 'Fiona would you like to join my herd?". He looked at her hopefully feeling a little nervous, she might decline him and he didn't want that to happen.

Fiona tilted her head. Of course she did. She had come here for that reason. Smiling, she said,"Yes, Chevyo. I would like to join." She couldn't believe it. She had accoplished her goal. Finally, she had found a herd that she would fit into. On the inside, Fiona was bursting with joy and excitement. On the outside, she simply smiled and hid what was on the inside.

Cheveyo smiled at her feeling happy and glad. "Its called the Surreal Spots Herd by the way" he told her glancing at both their spotty coats. He smiled back at her before stepping forward to nuzzle her cheek gently as if to say 'Welcome to my herd'

Fiona smiled and nodded. Softly, she said,"Huh. A catchy name." She looked out around the area. "So, this whole place belongs to the herd right now?" She paused before staying,"Aren't you afraid someone'll try and steal the place?" Then she caught herself and waited for his answer.

Cheveyo gave a nod of his head. "Yeah it does" he replied looking around at the territory for a moment. Hearing what she said next he stood up a little taller and said "They can try if they want but they have to get past me first"

Fiona laughed softly. "I can imagine. If I was a stallion, I wouldn't necessarily want to cross paths with you." She let out a small snort of amusement and sighed. "It's a nice place here. You made a good choice." She looked around at Cheveyo again. "So, what are you planning on doing now that you have me? Are you going to continue looking for more mares? That's what I'm guessing." She fell quiet, waiting for his answer.

Cheveyo laughed with Fiona feeling a little proud at the same time. "If you want we can go for a gallop or a swim in the river. I can tell you'd prefer not to watch me finding more mares" he said with a slight chuckle.

Fiona shrugged. "Anything is fine with me." She thought for a bit. "However, a bath in the river does sound a bit refreshing." She looked at him. "Why not a swim in the river? Only one problem..." She trailed off. "I don't know where the river is. But I have a feeling you will show me." Fiona smiled at Cheveyo.

Cheveyo chuckled "Follow me, were going swimming" he said winking at her. He turned around to start walking down the hill, walking a little to the right in the direction of the river. It was warm the swim would definitely be refreshing as Fiona said. He glanced back to see if she was following at her giving her a wide smile.
