.: The Beginning :.
Long ago there was a land where the dragons roamed. There were also elves and a few other races, but it was mainly them who were the keepers of peace and the protectors of wildlife. Yes, they did eat meat, but it kept a balance between the plant-eaters and the meat-eaters. Without them, there would be too many plant-eaters and they would kill the grA** faster than the lesser hunters could hunt and eat them. The dragons were the masters of all. They could fly through the skies with their wings, they could walk the land with their legs, and they could patrol the waters with their wings and legs. Even the elves respected them and regarded them as something of a god or gods. All was perfectly balanced and all was well. This peace lasted for many millenia. The dragons, elves, and other races living in perfect harmony.
Then the humans came. That was when disaster struck. The arrival of the humans meant disaster. They sailed across the sea from an unknown land. They feared the dragons and regarded them as no more but mere animals - reptiles with wings that controlled magic and an element. They hunted them and used their scales for armor, jewelry, and other items of use to them. They made weapons such as swords, axes, bows and arrows, and even pitchforks made for killing dragons. Humans saw dragons as a threat to their livestock and stopped at nothing to kill the masters of the world. The dragons responded in kind. They flew about, protecting the land and life they loved with their own lives and blood. They used their sharp talons and magic and everything they had to destroy the humans' homes and settlements.
Even now, the war between the races continue. The elves have now joined in, adding their might to the fray and allying themselves with the dragons. With their bows and arrows and amazing grace and speed, they help the dragons and protect the dragons with their lives. They are known the the humans as the keepers of the dragons. The elves hold all the dragons secrets and guard them. They are a mysterious race and no one but them knows where their cities and settlements lie. Many times, the humans have ventured to the far corners of the land to find it, but never returned.
The dwarves and other races have retreated deep within their cities, avoiding anything to do with the dragons, elves, and humans. They have icolated themselves and do not leave their settlements. Since the war began ten thousand years ago, there has been no sign of them since. They have been gone for so long that among the humans, they are myths and tales. Where did the story of the girl and the seven dwarves come from? The dwarves. There are many fairy tales on these mysterious races, but little is known about them.
