Krios stood, making sure there were no stallions to challenge and none around to steal his mares. He snorted softly and pawed the ground, rather impatient. It was morning and he was up. The others were still asleep and he knew he had to be patient. It was hard, but he would be. Sighing, he trotted down to a bush and layed down to keep an eye on them for when they would wake up. He had a few plans for when they did.

Sapphire was one of the first to stir after Krios on that summer morning. She opened her eyes and gazed up at the sky for a few moments wondering what the season would have in store for her. She was a young mare just gone past the stage of being a filly so this summer she would for the first time in her life go into heat, she was scared but at the same time curios. She got to her feet after a moment looking around again at the herd this time, she noticed that the lead stallion was absent.

Krios, deciding to go check on the others, was about to go back. Then he changed his mind and snorted, staying rooted to the spot. But then again, it crossed his mind, a stalion might be trying to sneak off with his mares. After all, it was the season for them to be in heat and he wasn't about to let them just leave with another stallion. Turning, Krios trotted back at a quick pace to check on the herd.

Hearing the sound of hooves Sapphire turned her head to see who was coming. They seemed to be in a hurry. Soon she saw that it was only Krios the lead stallion not another stranger stallion coming to snake them.

Krios, for some reason, broke into a small canter as he made his way back. Slowing, he snorted and looked around. Sapphire was up along with some other mare. Well, at least they were starting to wake. Besides, he was glad to be back and keeping watch over the herd to make sure no stallions came.

Sapphire dipped her head respectfully at Krios wondering why he had been in such a hurry. Maybe he was afraid that another stallion would try and take them like she had been. She glanced around at the other mares before looking back at Krios.

In response to Sapphire's gesture, Krios nickered softly. Perhaps she would be going into heat soon. He shook his head, shaking those thoughts away. That was both good and bad. Good because it would mean he might get to sire a foal. Bad because having a herd full of mares in heat could attract some unwanted visitors. Quietly, he smiled and said,"Sapphire."

Sapphire smiled and nodded her head. "Hello Krios" she said smiling at him. She had a strange feeling and being easily scared like she was she started to fret, what was if it was an illness coming over her? What the young mare didn't know was, that it was simply that she was about to go into heat.

Krios smiled kindly. He had a faint sense that she was being disturbed by something and was tempted to ask her about it, but he didn't. He decided to remain quiet unless she came up to him later. "What wakes you this early today?"

"the sun was shining right towards my eyes" Sapphire shrugged "And how come your about so early, you much have been awake long before I was" she added. The feeling was getting a little stronger now until she finally realized what it was, thankfully not an illness but she still felt scared by it. She was in heat.

A faint smile passed over the lead stallion's lips. "Oh, just making sure that no, ah, rogue stallions come and try to snake any of my mares." Krios looked at Sapphire. He could smell she was in heat now, but he didn't say anyting or show that he knew, not wanting to panick her. He figured that this was what had been bothering her. She had that feeling and she hadn't known what it was. Perhaps she did now. Krios looked towards the sun, then back at Sapphire again. "Are any of the others up yet?"

Sapphire glanced back at the others again. "No I don't think so" she said turning back to Krios. She was glad that he was there to stop them getting snaked by other stallions, she'd be terrified of getting snaked! -In Heat

Krios nodded and smiled kindly. "I see. Let's go back, shall we?" He started walking off, pausing and turning back to see if she would follow.

[Shall I make some characters for the adoption in a minute?]
Sapphire nodded smiling back a little. "Yeah" she said turning to follow him back towards the rest herd. Maybe he hadn't noticed her heat scent or just ignored it she didn't know but she relaxed a little as she walked after him. - In Heat

((OOC: If you want.))
Krios stopped a few feet away from the herd. Some of them were starting to stir. He smelled heat scents from many of the mares. Maybe. He snorted softly and layed down on the hill overlooking the herd, waiting to see when they would wake up. Sapphire was in heat now. This was her first year. Perhaps he would skip her and give her a little bit of time to get used to it.
